Tropical storm Chantal could affect Jamaica during next 48 hours. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An active area of showers and thunderstorm associated with Tropical Storm Chantal continues to move closer to the island and will start to affect sections of the island within the next 48 hours.

The latest computer models resolve this system as a intense area of low pressure with gusty winds 300 miles east southeast of Kingston. The likely countries to be affected by this system are Jamaica, Haiti, western Cuba, southern Bahamas and eastern United State. Therefore, interest in the those region should monitor the progress of this system.


Jamaica weather report will continue to monitor the progress of this system and will issue updates as they are available.
