LATEST NEWS:

Below normal 2015 Atlantic and Caribbean Hurricane Season

Glenroy Brown, June 7, 2015

The latest information coming out of the Colorado State University is that the Atlantic hurricane season is forecast to be below average activity for the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season. Professor William Grey and his team anticipate that the 2015 Atlantic basin hurricane season will have below-average activity compared with the 1981-2010 climatology. It appears quite likely that an El NiƱo of at least moderate or higher strength will develop this summer and fall.We anticipate a below-average probability for major hurricanes making landfall along the United States and in the Caribbean .

They estimate that 2015 will have about 8 named storms, 3 hurricanes, of which 1 will become major (Category 3-5) hurricanes.

They are advising that despite the quiet forecast, coastal residents are reminded that it only takes one hurricane making landfall to make it an active season for them. They are reminded to prepare the same for every season, regardless of how much or how little activity is predicted.
